Gold Lampshades

Well-known for its obvious association with luxury and riches, the colour gold is perceived as an embodiment of abundance and prosperity. While gold is the colour of wealth, it need not be pretentious when incorporated into an interior design theme.

In fact, this colour is often highly appropriate for inclusion in classical and medieval design schemes, as well as styles exuding a certain cultural flair, such as Moroccan and Mediterranean.

Thinking more broadly, this colour pairs universally with nearly every other colour of the spectrum, depending on what theme or motif is desired. The colour gold brings forth a warmth when paired with modest hues but is especially flattering when paired with black or white as an accessory in more contemporary décor.

When paired with members of the royal colour palette, gold makes reds seem more sophisticated, blues more regal, greens more elegant, and purples more glamorous. Gold needn't be relegated to just accessories and adornments, however, as walls covered in lighter shades of gold create a warm and inviting bohemian atmosphere.

When the use of gold is limited to small accoutrements, such as candlestick holders, picture frames, or decorative ornaments, careful consideration must be given to how and where these items are placed in an overall motif so as not to create a look that is over-the-top or chintzy.
