Black Fabric Lampshades
While some believe the colour black to represent moods of gloom or heaviness, this colour is most often associated with the senses of authority, sophistication, power, strength, and glamour.
A long-standing favourite amongst interior designers, black serves to add a striking contrast to its neighbouring design features. In addition to making other swatches of colour pop, including accessories in different hues of black to a room adds a fascinating element of depth to a design motif.
Even the simplest elements of black such as a picture frame or lampshade can serve to add an air of refinement to an otherwise blasé space. While the obvious colour palette pairing for black is white, black also coordinates well with every other colour of the spectrum – it is after all the ultimate neutral colour.
The colour black visually communicates an uncompromising atmosphere of professionalism, stability, intelligence, and excellence. Care must be exercised when incorporating black into an interior design scheme, however, as too much black can create an unnecessarily overwhelming sense of formality that can become oppressive or menacing even.
