Before
The lampshade was made in a cream fabric, with a big stain down one side. The cream fringe and blue braid was hanging off in parts, showing deep glue stains around the bottom of the lampshade. The lining on the inside was also very brittle and torn.
After
The fabric and trim was totally removed leaving just the bare frame. At this point it was noticed the lampshade frame was also ms-shaped. A bending machine was used to get the lampshade frame back to its original style. The frame was then re sprayed in a white paint. The customer had provided us with their own grey fabric, grey fringe, black beads and black braid. Our own cream lining fabric was used to re-line the the shade inside. (Please note customers don't need to send there own fabrics etc but on this occasion the customer wanted the lampshade to match with their decor)
Lampshade 2
Before
This lampshade has the american small hole fitting at the top. Lots of customers ask us to restore this type of lampshade as you cant seem to buy these in the UK. When the lampshade arrived at our work shop it was in a dreadful state of repair, as you can see in the picture. The lining on the inside was missing and the outer fabric had completely perished. This is what normally happens with silk fabric lampshades when the bulb used is too strong for the lampshade, it makes the lining and fabric very brittle, resulting in the fabric splitting and becoming torn.
After
The fabric and trim was removed leaving the bear frame. The frame needed to be cleaned with a cleaning and degreasing agent. All prep work needs to be done before you can re spray the lampshade frame in a special white metal paint. The frame was then left for 48 hours, allowing the paint to harden ready for recovering. This particular shade the customer wanted it to be a close match to the original lampshade. The shade was made in a cream fabric with matching braid top and bottom.
Lampshade 3
Before
The lampshade you see in the picture was made by a company that has ceased trading now. They where called Horrocks shades based in north wales. On receiving the lamp shade the lining on the inside was missing and the outer fabric was hanging off the frame. The customer wanted it restoring in a plain cream dupion fabric with a cream lining inside, rather than the existing pink fabric that it was made in.
After
The frame was stripped of fabric and trim and re-sprayed in white. The customer had picked a cream fabric and cream fringe to hang from the bottom of the lampshade along with a mixed pink and cream braid at the top and bottom of the shade. The shade was finished off with pink and cream ruffle tassels hanging from each scollop. The customer chose to decorate the lampshade like this to match the decor of their house.
